The Bylaws of the Bayside Medical staff state that the purpose of the Medical Staff is: “To ensure that all patients admitted to or treated in any of the facilities, departments or services of the Hospital shall receive the quality of patient care that is achievable commensurate with community resources available; a high level of professional performance of all Practitioners authorized to practice in the Hospital through the appropriate delineation of the clinical privileges that each Practitioner may exercise through an ongoing review and evaluation of each Practitioner’s performance in the Hospital; an appropriate educational setting that will maintain scientific standards and that will lead to continuous advancement in professional knowledge and skill; to initiate and maintain rules and regulations for self-government of the Medical Staff; and, to provide a means whereby issues concerning the Medical Staff and the Hospital may be discussed by the Medical Staff with the Board and the Administrator.”
We are exceptionally proud of our Medical Staff at Bayside, which is led by Leonidas Andres, M.D., Chief of Staff. From diagnosing and treating illnesses, to providing and performing complex surgical procedures, our medical staff is here for you.
To become a member of Bayside’s medical staff each provider must complete a very detailed application. This application is reviewed by our Medical Staff Coordinator for accuracy and completeness, references are checked, and all credentials are verified with the State Board of Medical Examiners and the National Practitioners Data Bank. Final approval comes from Bayside’s Board of Directors, our Active Medical Staff, our Chief of Staff and Administration, and are only granted if everyone is in agreement. This process helps to ensure that those providers associated with Bayside Community Hospital are top notch. You should feel quite comfortable knowing that when you are seeing a provider at our hospital or one of our clinics, that they have been thoroughly reviewed and screened and found to be a quality individual, and provider. For additional information, or to request a credentialing package, contact Medical Staff Coordinator Nellie Lunsford at 409.267.3143 ext 230, or Dr. Andres at 409.267.4126.
